Every Mountain Top Is Within Reach

Are You Ready?

Myles Munroe: “The wealthiest places in the world are not gold mines, oil fields, diamond mines or banks. The wealthiest place is the cemetery. There lies companies that were never started, masterpieces that were never painted… In the cemetery there is buried the greatest treasure of untapped potential. There is a treasure within you that must come out. Don’t go to the grave with your treasure still within YOU.”

In some ways it would be correct to say that nobody

ever truly achieves their potential.

There is always room to grow and

reach ever greater heights.

However, each one of us knows if we are at least coming

close to utilising the capabilities and talents we have.

To truly excel you have to leave your comfort zone.

“You cannot get from where you are to where you want to be

without passing through….The Discomfort Zone”.

When I had my Accounting firm 13 years back, I knew I wasn’t even coming close to fulfilling my potential and I very much sat in the middle of my comfort zone that brought a good income.

Studying finance and directed by others to go into the direction, I fulfilled my objective and opened my own Financial Company after gaining work experience in the market.

I was in a comfort zone of good money and consistent clients.

However, it was leaving me totally unfulfilled, disillusioned, unhappy and frustrated.

I had to pass through a very hard “discomfort” zone.

Now I know I can do more (because all of us can), but the big difference between now and then is that now I am constantly looking for ways to push myself and feel fulfilled in what I do.

Regret in my personal opinion is one of the saddest human emotions.

When I closed my Financial Practice, I had no regret knowing full well that in the long run had I kept going I would have no self worth and my children would suffer from an absent mom.

The regret was palpable and a real motivator for me to, stop faffing around, and get on with the process no matter how tough and uncomfortable it made me feel.
Most people don’t even come close to fulfilling their true potential and the reason is because, as I say, it requires that element of discomfort as well as often times a lot of hard work (which in itself is uncomfortable for most people).
One great starting point to move toward maximising your potential is to set goals that really push you.
There’s no problem aiming very high with goal setting because that’s what the super successful do.
Some people think if they miss a goal they have failed. Utter nonsense.
To never try is to fail. EVERY successful person fails and counter-intuitively, the super successful fail again and again and again.
The difference is, they learn from their mistakes, adjust accordingly, and start again with new information and more experience.
Think of any major medical breakthrough and you will find a litany of failures that preceded the success.
Scientists spend their entire working lives just trying to figure out one problem. Some even never solved it, but they did enough work to allow others to later work on it. Are they failures?
You can fail at something and that’s ok; we ALL do. That doesn’t mean you’re a failure, but maybe not trying and refusing to leave your comfort zone does?
I’ll let you decide, because in all honesty, if you are genuinely happy and don’t feel the need for more, then that’s enough in my book.
